When i was in college, we used to have poker night in my dorm room.  Our poker table consisted of a used beer keg for the base (that we never turned back in for the deposit) with a stop sign as the table surface.  Worked well.

Of all the signs I "found" on the side of the road attached to metal poles never would I find a stop sign the thought if someone who didn't know one was suposed to be there then ran it and crashed or died I would of felt so bad I don't know what I would of done.

Good call. If it can be proven that you took the sign and a wreck happened, you would be liable.

Well you cant tell by looking at an engine what exactly it is.....like 283-400sbc they're almost Identical jus small differences like some 283's and 327's had the big 3/4'' plug instead of a the normal 5/8''. this motor started its life as a 350, but now its a 388.

nice, i have been reading on that and been thinking of taking the project of making a 350 into a 383. some sites suggest that it only involves getting a 400 crank into a 30 bored 350 block and getting more length in the pistons? is there additional steps that I'm missing?

You have to take a grinder to the block to clear the rotating assembly.

what he said about the grinding part. gota make sure your crank has plenty of room

Ok, i have seen some videos about it from Eagle cranks, they say they already prefit the cranks so very little clearance has to be done, anyways thanks for the responses. Do you use the same camshaft and heads?

if you are talking about the same heads as the stock 350, yes you can use the same heads.

if you making a stroker no not the same crank tho

you can go on so many different suppliers like summit and have premade cranks for stroker engines.  It's a piece of cake now like putting together a puzzle.  You can get the kits with rods, pistons, crank, etc., and just throw it together.

THERE is still some grinding to be done with buying stroker kits. because not every block is cast the same

From my understanding every stroker (350 to 383 or similar variations) has to have the block ground for clearance.  I don't think Sgt. Del is suggesting the kit eliminates that, but makes everything else plug and play.

I get frustrated sometimes because i wish i would have more mechanical know how, i just bought the truck and I'm figuring out whats in it and were do i want to go with it, i read everything i can about it. I do like the idea of building a 383, I've seen kits ranging from 700 (eagle) to 2400 (lunati), are all cranks and rods the same (talking about the 383 kit)? am i just paying for a name brand?

cranks can be forged or cast, same for rods, so technically no.
IF you have the money, by the best bottom end you can afford, everything else you can change later.

EXACTLY, what he said you never know what you might wanna do in the future so build the bottom end to take a bullet, and you can skimp alil on the rest til you find out what you truly wanna do with it......
