I have a question about my np203 case in my 75 chev. I was reading about how people have the part time kits in theres and how to tell, if you are able to drive in hi unlock with the hubs unlocked then you have the kit. Well mine has the warn hubs on the front, but my transfer case only seems to have hi-N-LO. Yes it is the 203 for sure, but when I shift up from neutral it only goes up into one gear and doesn't seem to have a hi lock? Anyone ever heard of this, is this some kind of mod the po did or is my case maybe out of adjustment, seems to shift fine into gears though. Its also linked to a turbo 400 if this helps.

Sometimes it take a little force to lock the gears or sometimes it slips into unlock and you can't really feel it

ok will try that

yea so I have lo and lo lock, but only 1 hi gear its either hi or hi lock, but thats all that works after neutral up. Oh well 4x4 works anyway. What is it that the lock does anyway? Oh and I really tried pulling back on it hard, but it wouln't go any farther so idk?

Try soaking the linkage in PB or some lithium. It made my shifter real nice. Lock does just that. lock both axles together. OK for slippery ground, but not for pavement.

If the shifter hasn't been used much you can get a lot of crud in the shifter itself. Years ago i had to take mine apart and clean it out and relube it.

Your hubs should be locked all the time with a 203 that does not have a part time kit. Is that how you a running them? It will move in L-LOC with the fronts hubs unlocked but thats only for burnouts. ;D.
