Title: NP 205 and ATF
Post by: snibook7537 on October 23, 2010, 10:33:35 pm
I was just wondering, I did a quick search on here and didn't find anything about it. So here goes I bought the truck with the assumption it needed a clutch due to a messed up T/O bearing. Just took the trans and t case out today and found out it was a messed up t/o and it chew up the front input bearing off the trans, (just finished ordering one off of novak). In the trans I will be putting 50w engine oil (novak says it is okay I didn't think it was that good either but I've herd of doing that from my uncle too. http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/sm465.htm). I did drain the t case and it had ATF in it. My step dad said we should just put atf back in it, but I am a little hesitant to do that, will it be okay with atf or  is it messed up now. By the way it is an 87 v3500 with an sm465 and a tbi 350. Also i put a Zoom clutch in it, anybody every use one, if so how do you like it, it is the Zoom Multi-Friction Clutch Set. I am really excited about this truck will be my second truck and my first 4x4, just don't want to be finding a 205 to put back in it.

So what fluid should i put in the transfer case.

Thank You Much
vince

It calls for ATF DEXRON in the 205 transfer case.
The transmission calls for 80W90
