Title: Vin code question
Post by: Sartobuilt on October 25, 2010, 12:45:22 pm
I just bought a 1980 K30 pick-up SRW. The 3rd digit is a X and that isn't listed as an engine choice in any of the info i've found. Anyone have any thoughts on this? The guy I got it from said its a 400 ci. Are 400's worth anything, I have a 454ci. to put in it?

Thanks

Don't know about the x, but a good 400 is definitely worth something!

X used to mean 307, but for it to have came with a 400 it would have to be an R.

Although, a 307 wasn't offered in 1980.

The vin is on the dash. I picked up the truck yesterday. I double checked the vin on the dash and it is definately an X.

Are you sure it's not a K?
