74 C10 with a 350, now 383 engine. Snapped off the copper tube that connects the gauge to the block. Will the aftermarket line kits sold in auto parts stores work with the factory gauge? Can I replace the copper line with the plastic line the kits come with?

You're screwed! Not really. This happened to me, literally, day before yesterday.
Here's my thread: http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=18067.0
Wait...is yours the kind that runs a line to the gauge or does it have an electrical sensor on it?
Good luck

I replaced mine with the generic plastic line kit. It had a variety of fittings to choose from to make it fit.
Just make sure it doesn't crimp or get pinched under the dash that can lead to failure down the road.
They are not as durable/ forgiving as the copper line.
good luck.

get the copper kit, but use the ferule from your gauge.
