When I get out on the highway, my truck (87 r10 model if it matters) seems to have some pretty bad air noise coming through the seals around the windshield and from the vent windows on the side. You can hear the air rushing through it, and its loud.
My question to you is, what would you do about it? How would you go about sealing it up? In such a way that... it wasn't blatantly obvious that you had to do some sealing for air noise. I don't want everyone to see some thick bead of liquid nails (or RTV silicone or whatever). Even the clear stuff is plainly visible when you are staring right in its direction for a good while. Is there some technique, such as peeling back the seals before add the silicone or something? Though I doubt that would work since some of my seals are old.

If its leaking air it might if not soon be leaking water I would replace the seal. Andnif you use sealant it will be that much harder to replace the seal

you could peel the windshield gasket back from the glass where you think its leaking and squirt a shot in it and put the gasket back. If I remember right they sell a sealer just for windshields that is watery at first to get deep into the leaks and then sets up. I don't know what its called though, and i have never used it.
you can get by on the vent windows (if you don't use them) by seeing where the glass and frame actually touch the seals when shut and put black silicone there. put the sealer on and shut the window and then clean up all the excess with your finger and a paper towel. if you do it neatly then you wont be able to tell there's silicone except on close inspection.
If you do use the vent windows, there's really no way to rig the seals to work that will stay in place when you open the window. so new seals is what you need.

Yeah on the vent windows, I actually replaced those with the only new ones available. Well that I could find, at least. They suck. I don't know what they were thinking when they made those but they are nowhere near as good as the factory seals. "Precision" or something was the name of the company that made them. As it stands right now, I may be replacing them again someday with something else. So stay away from Precision brand seals, cause they're anything but precise.

When I did my vent windows, One side went together so easy it wasn't funny, but the other side took a day and a half. i don't know why. Anyway once I had them together, it took a lot of tweakingto make them look right and then when I put them in the door, it took a lot more tweaking to make the whistling go away. I do know on the passenger side, where the window frame contacts there are to flaps that press together when the window shuts.... I put some pieces of foam in there to spread the rubber to be tighter against the window. On my last truck when it had old seals, I put a piece of vaccum hose along that whole length where there were two flaps.. it was ugly, but it worked pretty well.
Just keep playing with them, mine were crappy when i first put em on but now i played with them a bunch they are very quiet.

Yeah maybe so. Also I think that for any work that I am not going to do myself, I think I'll be taking the truck to a restoration shop from now on. The local specialty fix it shops (such as glass shops) don't seem to care that its not perfect. Seems like a restoration shop would.

It changes nothing about breaking in. Now they will just break the whole window and you can't just go replace it from a parts truck...
