Title: frame
Post by: xraydave on November 04, 2010, 10:06:44 pm
my beloved 87 of 23 years took a hit when someone turned left in front of me.  At the accident site I only looked at the right side and thought a few fenders and radiator support plus other parts could put it back together.  But then I went to the towing yard with my daughter.  The drivers side tire is pushed back against the wheelwell, the frame is bowed at the cab/bed and the frame is bent back upon itself in front of the a-frame and cracked at the a-frame.  It needs a frame but the big question is what will the opposing insurance pay me for my truck and what will it cost to put it on another frame.  Mainly only interested in what someone paid to get their ride back on the road with similiar replacement of frame.  Not talking about lowering or special golly gee whiz refinements, just talking about putting it back to factory like it was before it mated with a 95 nissan.

That really sucks, and I can't answer your question, but if you need a frame, I have a 4wd frame that you can have if you come to Fargo, ND and get it.

be careful with the insurance so they don't brand your title as salvaged etc. they should pay you value for a total loss most likely and then they will offer to let you buy it back for about what they would get from a salvage yard. will you do some of the work or are you looking at having it done?

will have to farm some out. Don't have the time to give for lifting the body off.   Have already been told by the wrecker service that they know someone that will put a frame under it for about 1500 in labor costs.  But picking up a used frame in good condition is another matter.    Most of what I have seen falls into the category of pure junk.   Right now I in the mood for 'show me the money".   Which isn't going to happen because  police department hasn't even finished the report.  Today is  NOv 5, accident was Oct 30.   Wish I had my truck back
