Just did a fluid and filter change in a 2000 Ford E150 with the 4.2 and the AOD maybe E? trans and When I pulled the pan, there was a yellow plastic thing that looks kinda like a lollipop. It was just hanging out in there... I think this was the first time the pan was pulled, and I dunno how long its been floating around. I couldn't find its home, so I pocketed it. Anybody know what it is, does or should be? I test drove it for 30 miles and its fine.... Should I be worried???

Upon further research, is this the plug installed from the factory that can be thrown away? If it is, On a side note, THAT'S DUMB OF THEM

Well they did circle the problem for ya ::)

We call it a cherry - and it used to mean you popped it when you pulled the pan and found it but too many jackasses put them back in the pan so don't believe that's what it means. It's sole purpose is to allow the trans to be shipped full then the dipstick just pushes it in to float around for eternity.
