Looks really good! What color is that? I'm on my phone but it kinda looks like orange sherbet to me. Lol. I really like it tho!
-
Looking very good man...
-
Well done Bitzer. That color will get some attention.
-
cheers guys i'll keep ploddin on. Not sure what the orange is called but yes its loud! Hopin to get another album posted with all previous work done, rockers etc cheers for now Andy

-
A few older picks pre paint. Hope y'all enjoy!
http://s1045.photobucket.com/albums/b455/mills530/chevy454%20vol4/
-
It's come a long way, that's for sure. You have your before and after pics mixed up :D
-
;D grim! I know it's all sorts, I keep finding pictures on old phones/cameras/pc's etc lol
Thought I'd share em with y'all!
-
Well, slowly does it! A couple of hours here and there :)
The more I get into it the more I find > filler/bondo over rusty holes etc!
Onto the roof next, I've had to cut out a rusty hole in the roof (!) and weld new in, just need to skim, prep and primer. Hope to have that done before Xmas ;)
some pics of the rear of the cab.........
http://s1045.photobucket.com/albums/b455/mills530/Chevy454%20vol5/
-
Just an update for you guys.
Cab's fully in primer, just need to flat off and sort the little dinks and donks I've missed (or made) after the major refabrication work. Didn't realise how much metal worm was in the pillars and the roof, but it's all cut out and re-fabbed and skimmed.
3x boxes en route from your side of the pond with interior trim bits incl new carpet (!) hood rubbers etc that are extremely difficult to get over here. Also on the way is a stainless bedless bolt kit-didn't fancy trying to clean off 30+ years of goo/paint etc and of course make it look that little bit prettier under the hood.
I have a weeks holiday booked from this weekend coming, a few chores to sort 1st (blame the missus) then it's flat out.
I aim to have the cab in colour (orange & black roof) by the time I have to return to work.
thanks for reading guys, I'll update soon!!
Andy
-
Great job Bitzer, looking real good. I like the orange color. Keep up the good work.
-
Can't wait to see what it looks like orange with a black roof...Hurry up an get those chores done man!
-
Chores done ;D
Prepped and painted the inside that shows, black. Tomorrow should see the cab in orange and the roof in black on Saturday fingers crossed.
Pretty pleased with the prep work considering the grief I've gone through and limited space to work in. I'm guessing at 2foot either side of the truck!
Got myself some better doors and "dry fitted" to make sure they lined up. One didn't fit! I discovered a previous owner had tried to repair a door shut and made it too narrow so skimmed a few mm off each side of the door! unreal.
Time for some z's
Hope to update with pics Sunday ;)
-
http://s1045.photobucket.com/albums/b455/mills530/Chevy%20454%20Vol6/
A few more for y'all. The roof is black and with a good cut & polish it'll gleam (and lose a couple of runs!)
It's getting there :)
-
Keep up the awesome work Buddy!
-
Good stuff mate. Can't wait to see it finished.

Can't find an IMG link for the album? Maybe it's 'cos I'm a daft Brit ::)
-
Hi all, for those not linked up with me on F/Book (!) heres a few pics of the cab & doors prep/paint and a home made roof lining.
Hope you enjoy. Any comments or feedback is appreciated good or bad!

Amazing work. All those freshly painted parts, the colors you chose, all very impressive. You'll turn heads for sure.
-
Nice. I've been waiting for pictures of this truck.
-
Thanks for the link for I am not a facebook kind of man.....lol. Great work there, love the color!!
-
wow...amazing. truck looks killer love the color
-
EDIT: Wrong post.
^^ I can take a hint ^^ ;D
Thanks for the positive comments guys. I think it's been in my possession just over three years and what a learning curve. (and there is a story behind it)
I had 1x 2hr lesson from my bro on bodywork and 1x 2hr lesson on flat & polishing. Self taught welding & fabrication of bits and bobs.
The moral here is be patient. If it turns out wrong, don't cop the hump > redo the work until you're happy. Take it one step/panel at a time and persevere!
There is no such word as can't in my book - you don't know you can't until you've given it your best shot!
-
Great words of encouragement. Ive taught myself everything ive done from rebuilding my engine to wiring my stereo and now doing body work on my truck. Im going to see if my dad will let me use his welder to close up sone trim clip holes and what not. Great job on the truck, it looms great and makes me want to finish mine even more!
-
And I found out today the missus wants the bed out the garden! More hassle but at least it will be in position for when I'm ready to work on it.
I'll grab a few guys, slip it back on the truck and roll it all back into the garage. Never rains but it pours eh!
-
just a few pics to keep you going of the bed moving etc. I can't understand why it had to be moved!
The last pic is my 3 yr old who loves helping me and the lack of space I have available
-
Nice, cute kid...
-
Not to de-rail the thread, but I have a little helper as well, arent they fun?

Hi guys, another update of June/July & August I think!
Hope you enjoy and as always any comments appreciated!
-
so awesome man...what a great truck
-
Wow, great looking project.
The paint looks really good. Are you a painter by trade?
Are you using single stage or base/clear.
I'd be happy if my paint looks half that good when I'm done.
Thanks for the update
-
i hear ya on the paint thing haha i wanna try an attempt to paint mine when the time comes, i hope it turns out that good.
-
Cheers guys, it's coming together slowly!
I'm far from a painter but I always try 100% until it's as good as I can get it. There's a "wobble" on the bedside that I didnt see and sticks out like a sore thumb in the daylight - you can see it in the pic :( but hey ho, it's orange!
The paint is 2k and laid plenty on so when it comes to flat & polish I haven't got to be too gentle ;D
It was never meant to be a show truck and it's far from perfect but from 10ft away it'll do.
Keep looking and tuning in guys, more soon ........................
-
Great job Bitzer. You are an inspiration to us all.
-
Hi all, it's been a while!
Few pics of the update on the 3+3. Hope to find the time to wrap it up in the next 6-8 weeks.
http://s1045.photobucket.com/albums/b455/mills530/Chevy454%20Vol8/
Please feel free to comment, no offence taken! If you spot the paint runs, don't tell everyone ;)
-
Hey Bitzer, I really like the color choice, What is the exact color ? Sometimes it looks orange, and sometimes it looks yellow depending on the lighting. I like that.
It is coming together nicely, you gotta be happy and excited to get it all together.
-
Coming along nicely!!
If you are mentioning runs that must mean you got one little tiny one somewhere??
-
Looks good Bitzter! I didn't see the runs in your pics either.

Orange is hard to take pictures of under lights. I know, I had trouble taking a picture to show what color mine actually is. Just about every picture is different. The good thing about struggling with taking pictures of a color like that is they usually look better in person. It looks good to me in those pictures so I bet it is awesome in person.
-
That color is awesome. Looking forward to the finish...
-
Cheers all. I don't know the paint code I literally picked it from a bookchart of colours - I WANT THAT ONE, and they mixed it on the spot! That was a fair while ago, needless to say I lost the paper receipt.
It's a difficult colour to explain as I have no idea, if any original cars were painted in it. Closest would be the european RS Focus but I'm sure it's pearl mines just 2k.
The camera must be kind hahaha it's got more runs than the Aussie cricket team. Flat + polish will get em.
Hopin to do the big start up on the 28th but havin grief shimming the starter!!
More soon guys
-
Really nice Bitz.

Quick update of the front end going together!
Enjoy
-
Awesome look making the core support the body color!!!
-
I think it gives it a clean look There was so much tar/sealer splashed everywhere I had it blasted so the colour choice was easy :)
-
Hey Bitzer, That sure looks good and an awful lot like the color of my mutt.
-
Making great progress, nice to see it all coming together. Hopefully it wont take too long to get it driving.
-
Vile - you got an orange dog? Mutt?
Had it running, just need to order right brake bit and it'll be a lot closer :D
-
Vile - you got an orange dog? Mutt?
Was that a joke ? He has a truck nicknamed "mutt"
-
does it have a crome grill or is it one u painted??? i like to look!
-
Sorry, that was a joke! English humour haha
The grill is a cheap aftermarket platic chrome look!!

So this is where I'm at now. It's like, slow, slow, quick, quick, slow!
Enjoy, don't forget to let me know what you guys think!
Cheers

Looking good Bitzer! What are all of the relays for? Fan and headlamps I imagine, but what about all the others? Also...what is the little electrical box you made with the clear plastic cover going to be used for?
-
Cheers fella. The bank of relays are just in case required! I will use one for the air horns, I may run an independant musical set too but they'll be well hidden!! Always handy to have a spare.
The little plastic box will be used for all the ignition lives. Feed in one side and six outputs that are individually fused. I'm running two of these boxes to keep resistance etc low and save overloading circuits. There's also a big 40amp in line prior to these too! Better safe than sorry 😃
-
Stellar! She's shaping up well!
-
Looks like it is coming together nicely, keep up the great work.

Found some more uses for the relays!!
The mega alarm is going in. It's a K9 system with all sorts of programmable channels. The doors "pop" lovely with just the rubbers (new) so not installed the sprung assisters yet.
Another step closer
-
Love it! linked some pics to the post.
-
Cheers Chris, you know that's not my strong point!
Started on returning the dash pad. The original covering had seen better days so I decided to strip it down to the metal skeleton and have a nose. P O had fillered over rust and holes and needless to say both ends have rotted out. I'm going to try and re-fab it and cover it with foam then vynal. The cost of having a complete new unit over is not worth considering yet. Anyone attempting to separate the foam from the metal be careful. I have a 2 inch scar to show what happens when things slip!!
On the plus side, hoping to polish the stainless fan shroud and have it installed tomorrow and the rest of the wiring finished. I would cross my fingers but it hurts haha
-
The end is near, I can see the light!
http://s1045.photobucket.com/albums/b455/mills530/Chevy%20454%20Vol10/
As always, enjoy, comment, laugh!
Andy
-
well why did you hurt yourself for that's not good, plus its only metaphorical to put blood sweat a tears into your ride
-
Nice job Andy, can not wait for you tell us you are driving it around everyday.
-
The cut on the hand should be an example to others! Don't rush, take time, there's always tomorrow. Maybe I should should pop pics in of all the welding burns haha
Last few bits to do before it has the official Transport Test so I can use it for real!
-
looking good! Hope the testing goes well
-
Looking good. I can only wonder how its gonna be driving that beast on the "wrong" side of the road.
-
Looking good. I can only wonder how its gonna be driving that beast on the "wrong" side of the road.
It's you guys on the wrong side?
I'm having it transported to the test station and leaving it there. That way they will have time to give it a pre-inspection and maybe help me before it fails (if it would)
Hoping to get another day on it over the weekend, the weather is pants here!!

All tested and passed!!
Few niggles to sort out that I found driving it home, bit of a miss fire under and a few bits of trim to finish off. Door drip rails to fit and under starters orders!
Enjoy the photo's, after all the aggro it didn't turn out too bad!
Watch out for the Blazer build coming to a screen near you soon ha ha

Final update on the crew and an update on me!
The crew is finished barring a few little bits and bobs. Had a couple of shakedown drives totalling appx 25 miles. Awesome sounds through the 4 1/2" stainless, people were turning round before I got to them (a real head turner!). Cruising the main roads at 20-25mph sucking in every burble ;D taking up two lanes when aproaching junctions etc. Managed to upset a few boy racers in their cars with fart exhausts and leaving them standing at the lights.
Even young ladies are giving it the grin - oh yes, I love my truck.
My update is: It looks like I may be made redundant from work. :-\ I have set up a training company to train truck drivers, all insurances in place and viewed offices today to work from. I work hard and play hard so fingers crossed it works out.
As for the Blazer I posted pictures of a few weeks back. I've done a 300 mile round trip to get some doors, a 200 mile round trip to get an engine and box. All I need now is a hood and outer fenders. Oh and lots of sheet metal to repair the floor etc. The clip has been removed and disposed of, it was absolutely rotten. The front end has been degreased and it'll be under reconstruction very soon. I may have more time on my hands than previously planned!
happy reading guys/gals
Andy
-
Hey Bitz good to hear from you again! I kind of lost touch with the sight for a while. The truck turned out awesome! Great job!
-
Looks great! Great job!
-
Sorry this is old and dated but I couldn't remember if I gave you all the final update on the crew.
The back has been turn into a coffin carrier. If you're on facebook you may have seen it.
Cheers Vile & Bob, the comments make it that little bit more special knowing other people understand how much time/effort went into it.
