I have an '87 350 TBI in a K5 Blazer.
Ever since I got it the throttle has been really stiff. When I depress the throttle it’s fairly stiff and makes driving it smoothly nearly impossible. It’s either go or stop....
Then recently it’s started to develop a ticking noise. I had a look the other day and it sounds like it’s coming from the left side of the engine bay. I don’t think it’s a leaky exhaust manifold gasket, I’ve felt round it and can’t feel any exhaust gases coming out. I can’t hear the ticking noise at idle, only when I rev the engine - whether that’s cause it doesn’t tick or because I can’t hear it over the fan I don’t know.
I was gonna change the plugs and fuel filter.
Anybody had this??? Are the two faults (stiff throttle and ticking noise) connected in any way?? I’ve heard that these TBI injection systems are pretty unreliable.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A injector could be ticking. Abortion the cable take the spring off and try to move it by hand see how much of a difference then with the spring if not much remove the cable and see what the difference is if its alot then make sure the cables not twisted maybe try to lube up the cable and linkage

replace the accelorator cable, i had an 87 454 chevy that was hard to drive the same way yours was and i put a new one on it and drives like new!!! the ticking is probably the fuel injectors or an exaust leak, i bet. my 87 305 tbi ticks somethines too

Ticking...I usually think a bad lifter or lack of oil to the top end--unless I worked on it in which case I screwed the valve lash up again!
