Hi my name is Andy and Im new to your forum but have found advice here before from reading other posts. I just recently purchased a 82' GMC Jimmy 6.2L Diesel 700R4 (newly rebuily) 4x4. The brake pedal is hard as a rock and is difficult to stop, the cruse control also slowly falls off of the set speed. I have heard that there are vacuum pumps on these motors and there are also hydro boost systems. Does any one know which one is to blame and if this is a common problem with the diesel? The truck has only 58,000 original miles on it so there may be some seals or o-rings that have hardened. Thanks for your time and consideration.

to me sounds like there is no vacuum at the booster if you have one. and the cruise i would think its also a vacuum problem i would check your hoses for any cracks and such.

what kind of booster do you have? Vacuum or Hydraulic. Vacuum has a big round cannister behing the master cylinder, hydro has hoses going to the steering box.
Cruise drops speed because it is garbage, they never worked.
