Title: deleting PCM on tbi to carb swap
Post by: 87GMC2WD on November 29, 2010, 06:44:22 pm
well like the title says i have put a carbed 383 in my 87 r1500 and want to remove the tbi harness and computer. obviously engine performance will not be effected but there are three wires that go down to my 700r4 in that harness. i have seen some stuff on the lockup wiring but am just a little lost on the whole setup. anyhelp would be greatly apprecieted.

also could i run a stock 87 oil pressure sender on that motor instead of running an oil line and external guage?

Are you planning on running a new harness? If not the existing ones will all work. If you are completely removing that harness any donor will work if it came with a lockup auto trans. If you don't want to do any of the above you can wire up the tcc solenoid utilizing a brake switch and a pressure switch.

i would just like to eliminate the engine wiring harness as well as the computer. i am running an hei dist. so all i need is key on power. it does have a lock up 700r4 but i dont understand how to wire up the three wires with out the harness. ive tried to follow some peoples diagrams but they are all a little different and some make my head spin.

It's easy and there are several ways you can do it.
