Title: leaking rear axle seal

anyone know were or how i can get info on how to change out a leaking rear axle seal on a 84 k-30 with the 10.5 inch 14 bolt full floater??  its leaking a lil at the brake backing plate.

A service manual would help allot. Have pics and some direction.
You will need to pull the axle out, remove the hub / drum assembly by removing the spanner nuts that hold it on and keep the inner and out wheel bearings tight. Once the first nut is off there is a lock ring that slides out, then the second nut. The outer bearing will be loose at this point. Give the drum a pull and the outer bearing should just about fall out. Then remove the drum hub assemble. Set it on the floor drum side up ( I usually put them on a piece of plywood not right on the concrete ). At this point you can pull your old seal, clean all the oil etc. from the drum. Inspect the bearings, and spindle for wear. Install your new seal. The brakes will have oil on them as well. Might be just as well off replacing them. I have cleaned them before if they are fairly new. Then top off the diff fluid.

sounds like great info. this truck has been converted to rear disc so im assuming it would still be same install??

Should be. The disc is probably in place of the drum is all.
