So, I had to pull my carpet up like 5 times now to work on my transmission. I was curious, has anyone hear completely removed the carpet and the insulation? Just left it bare metal? I pulled my headliner out and it looks pretty smooth and clean. But, the carpet isnt original in my truck and it doesnt fit the way it should and bulges up right under the front of the seat. Its quite a pain and an annoyance, since I have OCD and I cant do anything to fix the carpet it drives me nuts. So if anyone runs bare metal and no carpet can you tell my pros and cons and supply pics?

I have run my truck without carpet, insulation, or a headliner only because mice and age destroyed them. One of the cons of having no carpet or insulation is that when you are driving it sounds alot like having a metal bucket put over your head and then having it repeatedly hit with a tack hammer. Every gravel stone your tires kick up, and every rattle and droning noise from your drivetrain, exhaust, and suspension are amplified. The sound and heat insulation was reason enough for me to just put new carpet in mine.
What are you doing to your trans that requires you to remove the carpet?

I had to pull the carpet up and unbolt the doghouse over the tranny and reseal the top play like 4 times because it kept leaking. And replace the reverse switch. I likes the way the bare metal looked, much cleaner then the ugly blue and stained carpet in a brownish tan truck.

It's really just personal preference. I couldn't live with the noise, and where I live it helps alot in keeping it warm in the cab.
If you decide to put replacement carpet in it Chris sells it here for cheaper than any other place I have seen, and it's high quality and fits great.

I live in Arizona, so I'm not too concerned with the heat issue. and, My truck is LOUD already, The mufflers dump put directly under my seats. It can't be NEARLY as loud in the cab as it was with open headers!(https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=677c11d9f3&view=att&th=12cc315ea6399872&attid=0.1&disp=emb&zw) Here is my mufflers now, and the cables wrapped up around the tail shaft are because my tranny mount is GONE and I haven't had the time to replace it yet. So the cables are to keep it from sliding around too much. Sorry the picture is HUGE.

Step 1: rip out carpet and foam, clean metal. Step 2: rubberize all of it. Step 3: find some nice floor mats to bring it all together. Step 4: REPLACE TRANSMISSION MOUNT. :D

I would love to bed liner the floor. That would be awesome. And, the tranny mount is first on my list. Haha.
