I have a 86 k10 and keep blowing a radio fuse and can't seem to find the problem. It's an aftermarket cd player, that I put a new fuse in and randomly it will blow. Sometimes at a stand still and sometimes well driving. Has anyone had this or a similar problem and know of a soluation?

sounds like you have a bare wire touching some metal. trace your wires and see

I traced the wires and they seem too be new by the last owner. I was thinking of a short to ground but because it blows at random , middle of idle, well driving, sometimes just listening to the radio at KOEO. This is throwing me off. I did cut the not needed wires, crimped the rest and put electrical tape so I dont see where its coming from.

what size is the fuse, and is the output of the stereo spiking past the amp rating of the fuse.

my cigarette lighter was loose and sparking, which popped the horn/dome fuse. Had the same symptoms, it would pop randomly. The horn fuse provides consent 12 volts to the radio, and the radio fuse provides ignition hot to turn the radio on. Might check and see if the radio fuse provides voltage to some other accessory that could be causing a short.
