Title: Miss matched brakes
Post by: willbo78 on December 11, 2010, 04:36:14 pm
I have a 1986 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive truck that came with the heavy duty power brakes option. the ten bolt rear blew up so i installed a 12 bolt from a 1977 six cylinder truck that had manual brakes. I'm having a problem when stopping i have mostly rear brake bias now. i have made sure the entire system has been bled properly several times. the heavy duty brake option has me scratching my head because both rears are equipped with 11"x2" brakes so i am wondering if i have to get different wheel cylinders for the heavy duty hydraulic system or if i have to get a different proportioning valve, or if maybey there is a totally different problem. can anyone help me out, this is my daily driver and i really need to get this taken care of. thanks.

If you still have tho original axle, swap the brake drums, back plates, brakes and hardware from it to the axle under the truck now. Its a direct swap. Just did it not to long ago.
