hi all,
I have a question about flywheel installation. today i put a 700r4 tranny in my 89 blazer. It was my first time and all went well i think. the only thing i was not sure about was connecting the flywheel to the torque converter? does it matter which holes to use on the flywheel? I was going to use the holes on the raised areas but as i tightened the tranny to the engine the torque converter met the flywheel before the tranny met the engine. so i switched to using the holes on the flat area of the flywheel instead. everything seemed to tighten up correctly after that. is this right?
One more thing. I still have not put the 3rd bolt in the torque converter. what is the easiest way to turn over the crank to get the third bolt in. Should i hook up the starter to turn it over?

I think it's a 5/8ths socket and a breaker bar. That'll turn the motor over to get the third bolt

Like Layne said turn the crank with a socket or else just grab the flexplate with both hands and give it a turn. You can also use a pry bar on the teeth but be gentle if you do.

i couldn't turn the engine at all to get to the third bolt. backed the transmission off and found out i did not seat the torque converter correctly. Once i re-seated it everything was back together and engine turns over fine. so finally i have this tranny installed correctly. my project is posted in Blazer/jimmy section titled "fix my blazer job", if any one would like to check it out.
