i have an 87 r10 chevy. i put a 79 front clip on it, and had to unbolt the whipper arm shafts. the mecanism and motor are all loose, but i need to to seperate the motor from the rest of the unit. i think loking at the back of the motor on the out put shaft the i just have to take a nut off of it, and can i use the same motor on a 79 meconism or do i need to put the motor from the 79 on it too? problem with that is that the 79 motor is bad. trying to be cheep.

What's a whipper motor ? Or do you mean wiper ?
-
I'm not sure which one the 87 takes. Compare them side by side and see if they look alike I guess. I know in 78 they switched styles. Not sure after that.
-
do i have to seperate the motor from the arm meconisms to get them off of the cab? wiper motor! sorry
-
There is a nut that attaches the wiper motor to the wiper arms where it sticks throught the hole in the firewall. Then there are three bolts that attach the wiper motor to the firewall.

thats all i needed to know, thank you :)

got it all bolted in over christmas, the 87 whiper motor worked on the 79 meconism. now i need to fix the distributor and finish building my new steering coulmn out of busted 87 tilt column, a 79 non tilt and an 88 s10 blazzer non tilt column. then more rust repair!!!!! :(fun!!!!

westernhauler, look into google chrome, it will catch spelling mistakes with a red squiggly line. then just right click and TADA!

Must be some kind of steering column!

its almost together. just need to make a new push rod for the ignition switch and the high beam switch, and glue the lower bezel cover thing to the uper half of the column. it not tilt though.
-
Just be careful you get it all together real good. Don't want to hit the ditch when you try to turn it! I think you could probably find one in one piece that would work fairly cheap.

it work good and is functional and free ::). i bolted it in and it works good. ;)
