I think we should have area or state chapters, so we can plan big get to gethers or just ge to gether at a resturant or a beach somtime or what have you
-
That would be awsome. I'm this years pres of my car club The Road Rebels. I would love to see more trucks like mine. I have the only one in my club.
-
We can be a gang then ;D we all could wear leathers with rockers so we know were the others are from. Might get shot/stabbed if we go to Cali
-
I don't have a problem with this.
How should it be divided?
North, South, East West and then split from there?
-
Texas could have 4 by itself, lol.
-
I would like to know who is in my area sometimes. For example I had to get rid of a bunch of 73-87 parts within the past year and I would have given them to any member of this forum before selling them on craigslist or scrapping them. Also a member here would be welcome to anything we have to offer as far as the garage goes...even if it's just a cold beer!
-
I wouldn't mind something like that. There are several 73/87 trucks in my area, maybe that would give a reason to get together and add a few new members.
-
Sounds like a great idea. Midwest out of the Chicago area could be one, lots of 73-87's around. How could something like this be organized? The only problem I might see with this is the lack of interest because some although really are into their trucks a lot of others it is a weekend hobby or just the second vehicle which really sucks the gas limiting the desire to get together because of costs involved or having a project truck in the works... Just my $.02. A good friend of mine belongs to some truck club, I will ask him about it. I know they meet a couple of times a year but is open to all types of older trucks, he has a 58 Studebaker...
-
We could start by that map I mentioned to Chris a while back each member enters his/hers zip and it will put a thumbtack to mark that member then we could break it up not by state but by those who are grouped close together
-
Well i am in north Carolina and they are 73-87 all around but not many are interrested in this site for some reason and i dont know why...
-
the way the other forums i have seen split it up in the north, south, east west, so on and so fourth or they split it up my state, but i think google map would be great its free and it would show where the big clusters of memerbers are at i think we should divide it up by state
-
So how do we mark this map?
-
BTW, if you update your profile others can tell where you are from also.
-
Nobody on any site I've ever been on, was within chillin distance. ::) Apparently in NE ga, I have the only square body around.

I feel the same way here in West Texas

lol, thanks for the offer, but i think I'll have to pass at this time.

I think that would be great. I myself am trying to find a group of guys and gals that love these older chevys together. I think it would be awesome to have a group of people that are doing or have done the things your doing, not to mention the more buds you have the better chance they have the tools and know how that you may not and the other way around. I myself am no mechanic but can do most things to my trucks short of body work. I can weld ok just never got around to getting my own welder :P.
-
I'd love it, and I think it's lame there's so many squarebodies around, yet none of them go online apparently. I see so many squares it aint funny. I literally pulled into the texaco one day and there was me and 6 other squares there, and only us.... it's messed up. I do think I'm in ford country up here though, you gotta goto south ga to get to chevy country.
-
Its the same here. There are definately no shortage of squarebodies here, I see them all the time, but apparently Im one of the few computer literate people around. I do let them know about the site, all the time. You could say Im the area sales rep, lol.
-
It takes a special kind crazy to love these trucks the way we do. All the hours, busted knuckles and spent four letter words are for the love of the trucks not the "investment."
So many of these are just beater work trucks or something cheap to drive until something better comes along.
I love the chapters idea, and would wear a 73-87 top rocker with pride.
-
Its such a shame to see so many of them being beat to death and thrown away. I see to many of them being driven by people that just needed a cheap ride and if it has any problems they call the scrap yard.
-
I'm in austin, tx. I know a few people with older chevy trucks but no one on this forum. A map system sounds like a great idea.
-
dibs on Squarebody Chancellor for the greater Fargo area..... ;D
-
Its the same here. There are definately no shortage of squarebodies here,
Half the squarebodies you see in magazines are from Texas, Hill's Hot Rods, Extensive Metal Werx and kustomwerx are huge in the scene for them
-
I think it would be pretty cool! I'm a member of a bunch of f-body forums and I've been to meets and shows and what not with club members before its a good time!
-
i think this is a great idea!!
as far as the map thing, i like the idea of quarteringg the country. northeast, southeast, southwest, northwest. divides texas in half, etc. but i'm partial to northeast, being from new england and all...
-
Dakota Territory/Minnesota
-
On another (non Chevy) forum, its divided into:
Pacific (So. California, Nor. California, Nevada, Guam and Hawaii)
NW (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska)
SW (Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas)
SE (Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington D.C.)
NE (Philadelphia, New York / Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia)
Mountain (Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming)
Great Lakes (Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Wisconsin, Ohio)

ive seen some sacramento people on here..and beastie lives south of me :) Im sure the california following would be pretty good off the get go....ive seen some nice 67-83 trucks in my town alone and I live in a tiny little town in northern california between sac and tahoe.
Ive seen...
67-72 purple short bed stepside
Truck just like mine except better stance, Cowl hood, Orange with black racing stripes
A black fleetside with the square headlights that has flames on it
a silver short step from 67-72
oh yeah and a nice black early 60's one came up my road the other day when i was working on getting my stereo in..He reved his engine at me >:(
I think im just gonna start giving those guys something with our website written on it. Honestly this is hands down the best site ive found for our trucks so id be glad to get some people from my area on here with us!
-
I will try and work on that this week.
-
There are quite a few squares running around down here in Miami! ;D
-
Missed this as I hadn't clicked on site suggestions recently. I agree a map that we can post our zips codes on would be great. I think I am only one of three or four of us from New Hampshaa. I know there a few others from New England.
-
I had to do this once, norcal, so-cal, and Texas pretty much give em there own. Some people will gravitate somewhere else no matter where you place them. If enough people from one locale wanted to be moved, I'd change it.
-
i would love this. it would give me ideas for my truck. There are a few of these square bodys left in my area (mostly burbans).
-
i was very intrested in this plan and was just curious how this idea is going. i like the zip / map idea. sorry if this a bit outdated.
-
i also love this idea. it would be nice to hang out with folks who also share a love for these trucks instead of that jap crap
-
It is now Setup in the regions section of the forum...
-
one problem that i see maryland delaware and dc are usually more northeast than south east ;D. i just dont want my states to be linked to dixie :'(
-
I love the idea. Irish, that was mean. I'm a good guy!
-
i just dont want my states to be linked to dixie :'(
Why not? We are just a bunch of fun loving, moonshine drinking hillbillys ;D
-
its more like just we aint south just east/ north east
-

You were almost a part of Dixie when the Civil War started but there already too many Union troops occupying Maryland for them to secede like they wanted to. Maybe next time you can be a "fun loving, moonshine drinking Hillbilly" too.
-
i live in pa and me and my friends are a bunch of backwoods whiskey drinkin rednecks. but i do agree that Delaware and Maryland are more in the mid-atlantic group with PA, NY and NJ, although i alway thought NY was part of the new england states anyhow.
-
The way it was split is actually the way the Census splits the areas.
