Title: 1978 Custom Deluxe Project... Kinda
Post by: 1978 K20 on December 23, 2010, 04:57:44 am
Hi All.

Just wanted to put out there what I have.

My dad bought a 1978 Custom Deluxe about 6 years ago, with 28,000 ORIGINAL miles. I know... it MUST have 128,000. I would agree, but I have all of the paperwork for it, all the maintenance records, down to the piece of paper that the sales price was negotiated on. It was BONE stock when we got it.
Anyway, my Dad gave it to me for my graduation present from highschool, and well, I just couldn't leave it stock! First thing first, was I put in a CD player (actually, I did this when my dad still owned it  ;D) From there, I had to have it bigger, so I lifted it six inches, and put a set of 35" BFG A/T under it. I REALLY like the way it sits now. Gotta have tools.... so I put in a tool box. Next up, I put in a new clutch (too many burnout contests with my other pickup driving friends....) Rebuilt the winch, and locked the front ax(Have to keep up with my Toyota driving buddies on the trails)

Soon, I'm hoping to start building a 383 to drop in it, but I'm in college and have a VERY strict budget. I'm thinking if I start now, It'll be done by the time I'm 20, when I smoke the 350 thats in it now.

anyway, Thanks for looking, let me know if you have any suggestions.
-John

Thanks,

My four wheel drive was out for about six months (gernaded the front diff) and the week I installed my locker, I was itching real bad to go play in the snow! Turned out great, I would say one of the best things I have done so far.
