Title: Meagan - My 81 Shortwide
Post by: 81-n-done on December 24, 2010, 04:54:40 am
Hey all, relatively new to the forum (been lurking a while, just signed up and already have a complaint thread in the Interior section, lol)

I recently bought my 1981 shortwide after a long hiatus without owning any vehicles (thank God I get my personal space back again), has a nice crate 350 and turbo 400 in it, so-so paint job, professional lowering, decently redone interior, and absolutely zero sound system

Anyhoot, here are a few pics. Will be making some slight modifications, upgrades, projects on the truck , figured i would start a little thread

Nice truck. Is that what you call a scallop? The white area? I like it.

haha, yeah, that stripe and the tonneau cover are actually both silver (looks like white in the pics). the stripe is okay, but will be gone when i eventually get to having the body work redone.

The tonneau cover I fricken hate though. Some custom job, silver diamond plate design. Considering getting another tonneau, weighing it out though, since it will be about 350 to get a new one customized for the truck (black if I do get another), and if I am gonna paint it in a year or so who cares since the and tonneau will be bye bye

Just got my stereo equip ordered. total novice with all things related to electrical/audio, and will basically be going trial and error through this whole thing.

Kenwood excelon X994
infinity reference 5020cs components
qform kicks for the components
Pioneer TS-SWX310 12" shallow sub enclosed
Rockford Fosgate Prime R300-4 300 Watt amp

This is going to be a fricken circus with me being an idiot and all, but I will try to post up pics and let everyone know what I do wrong as I go along, haha.

Using Fosgates site for a lot of reference stuff
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/rftech.asp

I will be under powering the sub a little bit, but heck, I dont think its gonna kill me, and I am on a limited budget and got everything for just under 700 bucks

This will get interesting...

Oh , and in case anyone cares, crutchfield has the q-logic qform kick panels on sale for a very good price right now. The ones for my truck were marked down from $179 to $129, then you can then use this code (3A171) to get an additional $20 off any order over $100. Mine costed $109 shipped, which is about 50% off the usual price with shipping.

I sell kick panels that fit inside that insert so you don't have to replace what you have.

Dang it! I wanted to buy from you too, but I swear that when I went in to look for the kicks it said they were out of stock. I must be trippin'. I am always more comfortable supporting smaller businesses over a monster like Crotchfield, but I thought they were my only viable choice. Haha, gonna have to make sure I check with you in the future Capt.

Well, the stereo is going in early next week.

Kenwood Excelon 994 deck
infinity refernce components
Qform kicks for the components
small Fosgate 300-4 bridgeable amp
alpine 12 in a truck box

Won't be winning any competitions, but it will be nice to have tunes in the truck . love the sound of the engine, but not 24/7.

Will post pics after the install
