Hey how you guys up North and along the East Coast give us some snow reports. Looks like some of you guy's have been getting pounded and some of you are fixing to get covered up today and tomorrow! Feeling a little left out down here in Cajun Country.
-
none yet, but its on the way!!! Have the sled warming up now ;D ;D ;D
-
Nothing but rain in Okinawa. Can't wait to get home from this trip. Heard we got a few flurries a week or so ago back home in GA.
-
Northern NH isn't supposed to get much out of this, 3"-6". We got about 6" on the ground from a previous storm. I guess we will see overnight. Got 12 hrs before it starts here.
-
I still have Ice on the ground from the week before. Christmas eve..it started comming down pretty good, we got about 3" and maybe another 1/2" last night. Supposed to have another front comming through tonight.
I can deal with snow! That Ice storm we got in 09 was a bummer :'( Lost power for 9 days on that one.
-
Light snow here today.
But they are saying tonight and tommoror will have up to 12 inchs of snow.............
-
We had some like 40 inches by mid month and about 1/2" since. There is about 4-5" of snow over 1 1/2"-2" of ice everywhere. Its just really cold here with highs in the low 20s or high teens.
-
we got a white xmas out of this storm, first one in Richmond since '93 or something. It started 'round 2:30pm yesterday, still coming down Sunday morn. Looks nice. It's following I-95 north bound, and I live about two miles west of I-95. Getting maybe 5-6 inches before it quits this afternoon.
-
we have about 4-5" right now here in south eastern Virginia and much more falling...
-
The last snow brought us 22" in 24 hours, other than that maybe a foot or so otherwise.
-
I say bring it on...
16 degrees outside
about 70 degrees inside the garage (got the woodstove cranked up today, feels better than oil heat)
Michelob light is about 32.1 degrees

Thats right! A NH person can take this especially if the beer is cold!!
I grew up in the Granite State, I miss the snow covered winters...
-
it's been snowing for 31 hours straight in central Va, and still snowing. We should have about 30 inches by now, but, it has been light snow and we have less than 5". Supposed to be 22 degrees tonight and the roads will be terrible in the AM, they are snow covered now and will be all ice.
-
It's piling up here in CT
-
14 inches about an hour due east of Va Beach.
-
Got about 2 or 3 inches last night. It was enough that today When I went out I got to see car wrecks piling up here and there. Even when there's ice, these southern idiots drive like its sunny and 90 degrees outside. The best word I can use to describe it is it's a cartoon. They go over the speed limit and ride each others back bumpers in the snow and ice. I watch em wreck and wave as I drive by em.
-
been 2 days since i drove my car. it had six inches on it today.
-
Northern NH: it is like throwing darts trying to predict snow amounts here especially with coastal storms. Now it is snowing ,about 2" on the ground. 6-12 forcasted.
It doesn't count though till it is on the ground. stay tuned. a lot of impressive totals on the eastern seaboard with this one. Boston is supposed to get 1-2 feet! I feel sorry for those post holiday travelers.

With the drastic change in terrain the NH weather forcasters always struggle with this area. We always joke about the local TV station having trouble predicting yesterdays weather. Ha..they missed on this storm again. Woke up to about 12" with some serious drifts and still coming down hard.
-
14 inches about an hour due east of Va Beach.
an hour due east of Va beach?? You must be in the Gulf Stream ;D
I know, Franklin is Due "west", but, I had to have fun w/ that one.
Newport News, Va, about an 1 1/4 hrs east of me, rec'd 13 inches. I'm glad i didn't get that here in Richmond. I'm tired of it already.
-
yeah I'm in Portsmouth VA about 10-15 minutes from VA Beach and east of that is all water!!!!

You are not kidding, most of these southerners can't drive in the rain, forget the snow!!! We had reports yesterday of hundreds of stranded motorists and its mostly because people ignored the warnings and went out anyway...

I drove about 30 miles down the freeway yesterday and came across about 4 different pileups. The worst one had about 8 cars involved, they looked like a bunch of hot-wheels some kid had kicked.
I have a lot of respect for those tow-truck drivers who have to get out in this and drag people back on the road or haul them away. That's the ONE place I wouldn't want to be on an icy day is on the side of the road with the general public driving right by me.
-
Yeah I have helped quite a few people out of snow drifts with my old Ramcharger when I lived up in NH, but I wouldn't want to have to do what the tow truck guys have to go thru, it looks really dangerous..
-
We got about 6 or so. But 40mph gust give the 4'drifts tried to make it to work doing fine till my wiper fell off lol then I called.
-
ended up with about 20" or so in Northern nh. dug out my blazer yesterday so i can keep working on it. sure would have been handy to have it up and running!
-
Freezing rain now, supposed to get 11" of snow in the next 24 hours...
-
Its Supposed to be over 40 here tomorrow and rain all of our snow will be gone.
-
Ha ha! Thanks Del for setting me straight. Though sometimes I wish I was due east of the beach with a pole in my hand!
-

LMFAO looks like people up north forgot how to drive in it too, Frigging all kinds of pileup in FARGO, NORTH DEKOTA of all places..If anyone should be use to driving in the snow and blizzards its them. Folks in NY are not do so hot either, heck the south has better snow drivers than up north...now rain. forget it.
-
Jim, there's idiots everywhere. Nobody forgot how to drive, they didn't know how to in the first place. The total was around 100 cars piled up at noon yesterday, and by 8:30 last night they finally got everyone out.
My old chevy eats this stuff up, as long as the defroster can keep up.

-
Nothing like Ohio weather, 40+ inches of snow and temps in the upper teens the first half of Dec, now its 55 degrees and supposed to be warm and sunny till next year. Gotta love it.
-
My old chevy eats this stuff up, as long as the defroster can keep up.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/40861490/ns/weather/?gt1=43001
That just gets my goat!
The headline "Snowstorm causes 100-car pileup near Fargo, N.D."
" ....Icy Roads being blamed for it? "
NO! A storm doesn't CAUSE a pileup. And, ICY ROADS aren't the blame for it either!!!
In today's wussified world, no person can be held accountable for their actions. IF YOU CAN'T SEE THE CAR AHEAD OF YOU, PERHAPS YOU SHOULD SLOW DOWN!!
By the same reasoning of the media, EVERYONE should've wrecked who were out in the snow, but, that didn't happen. WHY? Because the snow doesn't cause wrecks, people who can't drive do!
There were plenty who were driving in that stuff that didn't wreck.
-
I agree with Sgt.
People now are used to having the roads clean, I can remember when our small New England town used to clean the roads up after the storm unless it was a big storm then they might plow during it too. Everybody had big rear wheel drive cars with good snow tires (and of course trucks). If you had to go out, you drove civil, there wasn't any tailgating and not many wrecks either. Nowadays we see front wheel drive cars with all-season tires and the drivers get angry if they can't go just over the speed limit and expect the municipalities to spend whatever it cost to keep the roads clean just in case they need to go to walmart.
Oh and these are the same people that only clear their car off enough to see straight ahead.
-
Yep, You guys nailed it....
-
Like I said, I managed to get around just fine. What really makes me shake my head is that people were freaking out because responders couldn't get there fast enough, people were running out of gas, getting hungry, etc. I won't turn this into the story of the ant and the grasshopper, but I ALWAYS keep both tanks topped off when a storm is on the way, I carry a shovel, ATV ramps to put down for traction, recovery gear, my Carhartt gear, goggles, handwarmers, snacks, and a few bottles of water, plus most of my camping gear that I never bothered to take out of the toolbox from the summer time.
If you're not capable of operating a motor vehicle in these conditions, and disregard simple safety measures such as having a winter survival kit, stay home. You're putting first responders in harm's way to save you from your stupidity.
-
My father in-law has a little Chevy aveo and he was doing better in the snow last year than people with awd or 4x4. This year he said it’s not the car but points to his head and he’s right. That’s one thing about my truck I can have fun out in the snow but if I screw up I can get my self out of it. Made my winch remote cordless now so that helps lol. I hit one small drift that pushed me into a bigger drift that was about 4' high and if I didn’t have the tires or 4x4 than I would have been screwed. Like we said before the 4x4 helps with traction on take off but doesn’t do much when it comes to stopping and that’s where most screw up
-
We just got about 2" in a little more than an hour.
-
We just got about 2" in a little more than an hour.
So I guess GA is closed for the next 3 days under State Emergency? LOL
-
Yep. They done turned off the lights and rolled up the sidewalks. They had on news earlier people making a run on the stores. all the milk, bread, water and salt is gone. Why do they always do that? If you're gonna be stranded, who the heck wants to eat milk and bread the whole time?
They had one guy on there with a shopping cart just overloaded with the big ol bags of salt. I wanna know what he's gonna do with it all? is he gonna salt a path from his house to his work? :D
-
Its coming down here pretty good I,ll get some pics lol

We have about 5" now the freeways are shut down, hundreds of wrecks. People tailgating. One passed the house a while ago right on a cop's bumper. well at least the cop can ticket the idiot. ;)

1" in Northern OK
-
we're expected to get a couple of inches then ice tomorrow. Generator's gassed up and ready. Flashlights, propane stove, and lanterns pulled from my camping gear.
I'm ready.
-
We are supposed to get 1-4in of snow between tonight and tomorrow night.
-
we got a bit, still coming down, had to push a car up a hill so i could go
-
they're talking 16"+ for my area tom. night into all day wed. glad the truck is running good!! she's earning her keep this year, thats for sure.
-
Driving on icy roads sucks with 1-ton springs. dang is it rough. If I had to do this very often I'd be having a 1/2 ton truck. On another note, The new BFG all terrains seem to work as well in the snow as my old Goodyear TD's. I'm not sliding when other people are.

We got some snow and ice down here in GA. You would think it was the end of the world the way these southerners act around snow and ice.

We're getting hammered here. Over 2 feet of snow in some areas and still coming down...Only 3 of us showed up at work today

Isn't it still snowing up there?
-
You can keep it! Lol I'm ready for warm weather!
-
Well the bad luck truck did it to me again. Kind of my fault but I didn't have her in 4 wheel drive tried to turn on my road only to lock up the front tires (thought I had it in 4 wheel) if it was I would of been ok. so I slid into a ditch missing a telephone pole by inches wasn't going fast so I still had some control almost stopped but the ditch was to steep and the bumper was touching the other side well no damage. So I tried backing out but couldn't catch traction up front so I finally got her to move only to hop right into a telephone pole a local junk yard Guy was passing so he gave me a tug and she got out doors bent all to heck lost the mirror. But that's it

Sorry Irish. That stinks
-
rubbin's racing Cole!
-
Snow? What snow! ;D
We had between 4" and 24" inches across the UK and we came to a stand still. People that haven't seen snow/ice that bad haven't a clue how to drive in it.
Thankully it went as quickly as it came and it's back to normal > rain!!
-
we ended up with 18-20 inches after the last storm. truck took a beating again, have a funny squeal coming from the trans tunnel. other than that performed great.
-
The cold to hot change cracked the windshield in my car. It was like 6 degrees in the night and went up to almost 60 that day. So where I had a rock chip started a crack. It get about a 1/2" longer every couple of days..... :P
-
i had something similar happen last year when we got a storm of 32in of snow. i started my yukon then began to clean it off and some snow was still packed at the bottom of the windshield and i guess the heat/cold caused it to crack all the way across i was not happy.
-
Found when I called the glass places... yes place(s).. there's a 2 to 3 week work wait... apparently it got a LOT of cars. I'm on the list. I knew there was a reason the truck stayed in the garage and the focus stayed out in the weather.... ;D On the bright side, the focus' windshield was all scrtached and pitted anyway and I had debated getting a new windshield in it before this, guess now my minds made up. When I get a new glass, I'm going to drive towards the sunlight and be one of the few people to still be able to see good... ;D
-
We go a couple inches after the rain and freezing rain

This is what we got after a little snow the other day. It wasn't the coldest part of the morning but it was still -27. -34 was the lowest that morning.

-
Hey Thirsty - if it got that low I'd have to hibernate!!
-
Really!
-
ooo pretty pictures.
-
lol I felt like a professional with my camera phone. If I saw something I would turn the truck sideways in the road just to take a picture.
-
Hey Thirsty - if it got that low I'd have to hibernate!!
That's why we have got to have heated garages with a project or two going on here.
-
I'm in Moncton, NewBrunswick, Canada. We got 5 feet on the ground now & seem to get 25 to 35 cm. every week.
Most of the snow banks are 6 to 10 feet high.
Another 35 cm.'s coming this wed./ Thurs. from Texas direction. That's really odd. This one will be interesting.
-
12-18 Inches expected with 45 mph wind, blizzard conditions.... We'll see, supposed to be all over by Wednesday...
-
Hey thirsty, I like the snow but man that is too cold. I remember once in Iowa that it was -40 with the wind chill and I swear I threw my internal heater off that winter.
-
We have 3 or 4 inches on the ground, it's cold as heck and there's supposed to be a heck of an ice storm headed toward us in Dayton OH. I got the generator ready......
-
Snow? Heck we went from snow and ice to high 60's. I actually got some work done on the truck this weekend.
-
They are predicting a foot for us tonight and tomorrow, but it'll will be the wind off lake erie that's really gonna make it a mess.
-
Honolulu, HI - for those tired of snow forcasts

-
Dont be fooled, Hawaii gets snow too!
-
Well as soon as it got a little nicer I started ripping apart my interior to change the color and make a new head liner. Wouldnt you know as soon as I start they call for 15 to 20 inch's ......... God I hate it here in Illinois.
-
Dont be fooled, Hawaii gets snow too!
I don't doubt that, but which forecast looks nicer? sunny, highs low 80's. wow. Aloha!
-
Ya Hawaii has great weather, but you do have to like rain. It would be nice to snowboard and surf in the same day haha
-
Dont be fooled, Hawaii gets snow too!
It would snow if I took a vacation there. :P
-
we will see if i make it out the driveway
-
9 inches on the ground, another 12 expected on top of it tonight, another 6-12 inches tomorrow.. total whiteout conditions, first time since the 70's the Kirksville area has seen a real blizzard warning. With winds blowing 20-30 mph and gusting over 40, we have monster drifts going already..I drove my '83 c10 shortbed through/over a 4 ft drift. Yes I did say c10..If you're in the market for new tires, I HIGHLY recommend Cooper Discoverer STT's. ;D The wet sloppy stuff when its in the 30's are the bane of their existence, but the fluffy stuff is no match for them. :)
-
We had a high of 73 yesterday, and a high of 20 today. Little bit of snow, but not much. Wind was 20+ most of the day which really cut the cold to the bone.
-
45+ mph winds, blizzard advisory, 20+ inches expected. Hunkered down with the family. Just brought the dog into the garage, she was out in laying in it all. That is my story and I am sticking to it...
-
Enjoy the blizzard folks. I'm gettin my light jacket back out, its supposed to be about 45 here tomorrow.
-
In the teens here now. Everything looks like a glazed doughnut with all the ice on it. Turned into our blacktop lane that leeds down to our house yesterday coming home from work and slid sideways all the way down. Got out and slide the rest of the way on foot until my legs went out from under me. Landed on my back and bounced my head on the pavement. I'll be ok, just have a headache and
I'm seeing 2 or 3 of everything! Oh, and the girlfriend gave me her cold.
Good thing Phil says winter is over!!!!!!!
-
Watch out for a concussion! Other than 10 degree temps, and rolling blackouts around us, all is well. We haven't lost any power tho.
-
It cold as it can be and we seem to have got 22 1/2 inch's yesterday trough today.

Had to dig the Talon out and the Cadillac just the spare car so it don't need to be dug out, as far as the Suburban it had no problems at all and my K5 is in a buddy's barn for the winter. Had a blast in it with the suburban though, four rooster tails just flying away lol.

Where would you drive it after you dug it out? I don't see any road!

I actually took the talon to the gas station lol. It was only like 3 miles away but it was a fun trip haha.

Right now it's 28 degrees and sleeting mixed with freezing rain.

There's gonna be some more snow here pretty quick. The west half of the state is closed down.

We were supposed to get 3in yesterday in Richmond, Indiana but didnt get it. I work at a county highway dept and we had to put all snow plows and sanders on Friday for nothing. Didn't get even a flake here. lol better safe than sorry though
