84 305 4brl - I recently had issues with my right fuel tank after it was not used for an extended period of time because my dash switch was bad. After changing the switch and putting some gas in the right tank I found that the tank was all gunked up and leaking so I had to change it too. Now regardless to which tank I'm using if I push the gas pedal down past halfway the truck chokes and dies. It ran fine before I started dicking around with this right tank. I cleaned out the screen on the pickup on the sending unit, no improvement. I'm guessing the fuel filter could be clogged up limiting the amount of fuel I'm getting to the motor?? (your thoughts on this theory) So now I'm going to change out the fuel filter but the only one I can find is actually in the carb. Is there another fuel filter location on this truck?
Is there anything I need to use on the threads to keep them from leaking when I reassemble the fuel line on the carb after switching the filter? Is there any certain way this thing comes out?

If it's original the only filter is in the carb. Hold the big fitting on the carb with a wrench and loosen the metal fuel line going to it. Then remove the large fitting that holds the filter in the carb. Pull out and replace the filter, reassemble. If you don't use 2 wrenches to seperate the line from the fitting you can kink the metal line. I've never used any kind of sealer on the threads before, and have never had one leak.
