Title: EGR valve id

How do I tell what kind of egr valve I need, mine is not the right one.  89 Burban 350 tbi.
I put the one from a 90 Parts truck on it and its not working properly, I checked the valve itself, and it works fine, its just not the right one.  Thanks.

The ecm says its not working when everything is working.  The solenoid is new, the egr valve is used, but operates, checked it but the idiot light still comes on.

Anyone?  The local parts store says they have 2 different part numbers and they have to match to the original, which I don't have.  So am i going to have to guess and check on this?
