i run true dual straight pipes on my 87 truck no cats..i hate cats lol. i love the sound..loud and mean. anybody else runnin em? like them or not?
-
Must be obnoxious! How can you stand having no mufflers? No like
-
Must be a Harley owner lol.
-
love em! but i also enjoy the sound of straight pipes with glass packs
my 79 sierra has two 45s to get over the tranny crossmember glass packs 9 inches of 2.5 pipe and 90s pointing down and out towards the side of the truck is tucked up nice and tight so all you see is about 2 inches of the tips ;D
-
IMO
I Hate straight pipes...hard to beat the sound of a good ole flowmaster!
-
not a fan of straight pipes on the street but the track yeah. for the street i prefer a nice rumble through flowmaster 40s or magnaflows.
-
oh yeah theyre obnoxious lol i open my back window just to hear it lol and nope i aint a harley owner. and yes i do like a good old original 40 series flowmaster..jus not on this truck
-
wow...i rather build the motor to make it louder and sound better than run straight pipes but thats just me...
-
the less back pressure you have you lose some tq. i cut the cat off my 86 but left the muffler i could feel the loss on take off
-
I had an exhaust bent on my 79 Firebird that had free flowing aftermarket cats and no mufflers. It was bent all the way out the back so it was quiet inside the car but sounded kinda like a boat when driving behind it. It was just a daily driver and not a power house so I didn't loose anything thru them. I can't stand the exhaust smell of a non cat d.d.

glasspacks and true duals. never gonna have anything else on that ol girl. been like that for 15 years.
-
i love the sound. lol. i cant tell theres any power loss. ive got smallest pipe i could get to keeep a little back pressure. think its 2 1/4". with a couple bends on the way out. got 3 1/2" tips out the back..wish they was 4"...i just hate cats with any exhaust. they quiten things down to much.
-
Definately wouldnt put straight pipes on any gas vehicle, Diesels are a different story.
-
Agreed! Unless its over 12:1 cr and has a huge cam it will prob sound like a tired farm truck imo.
-
dual glasspacks and headers on our 87 454, makes the harleys jellas
-
Mine still has from when I bought it a 305 with headers into 1 cat (I think its punched thru) into 2 straight pipes, its only loud when I get on it, not at idle or cruising just has a nice rumble. I want to put a true dual with two cats just to be easily inspectable.
-
oh believe me it dnt sound like no tired farm truck lol. and i dnt like glasspacks myself
