Title: painting the valve covers
Post by: 73CustomDeluxe on January 07, 2011, 02:43:06 am
so i painted the valve covers on my truck and thought they turned out pretty good.
here's what they stared out as

so i pulled them into my dads shop to prep them. here they are off.

then sanded and wire brushed them.

here i pulled them outside to prime and paint.

heres one primed

i decided to do orange on black since the middle is raised and i wanted a black bow tie in the middle. so first i taped off the outside and did the orange.

then i taped off the orange. i printed and cut out a bowtie to use as a stencil and gently cut out the tape.

after that it was ready for the black paint

and here is the finished product

not show quality or anything but i thought they looked good.

They do look good, but it looks like you need to do some more cleaning and painting under there. The new paint highlighted all the dirt.

X2 on what choptop said, if you started painting more stuff pretty soon you would have the whole engine bay cleaned up.

Yeah I painted the breather when I first got it because it was all surface rusted.

Seriously nice work on the covers! Little by little I was hoping to do the same thing.

Those do look good. And the orange on black was a really good idea. I like it. Now paint the inner fenders, radiator support top cover, the fan and the air cleaner box to match lol.
