I meant to put this up months ago but kept forgetting, On the motor that was in my 1980 Chevy K10 on the driver side valve cover there was some sort of electronic unit bolted to it, and wires plugged into the back of it that went into the wiring harness. I have noo idea what it is, its still on the stock valve covers and the plugs hanging there now, What could that be? my mechanics teaceher guessed that its some sort of exhaust emissions control device?
If anyone has any ideas that would be great, lol

What side is it? Check the wiring diagram in the tech section.
-
Its on the driver side valve cover closest to the steering column. and yeah I looked for a bit but couldnt really find anything, and I have no idea where the wires go they just disapear into the wire harness

Take a pic unless someone replies sooner.

Ok il get a picture, it might take a day or 2 to get one its on my old motor sitting in the shop but il upload one asap. Thanks
-
Heres the pics of the thing on my valve cover. (the valve cover is on the motor backwards by the way)
anyone have any idea what it is?
-
If the valve cover is on backwards, shouldn't it be on the passenger side? Check around your passenger side firewall for the plug. It looks like the heater relay.
-
No its supposed to be on the driver I just mean its not pointing the way it was when I got the truck, its supposed to be pointing the plug side to the firewall, the plugs hanging there in my truck. Should I have it in there?
-
Shouldn't be bolted to the cover regardless. Look around the firewall for emply holes . Chevy never bolted anything to the top of the old style covers.
-
EFE relay and yes it was bolted to the valve cover from the factory.
-
New one on me, I've been around SBC's for over 30 years and have never seen anything bolted to a valve cover. but you learn something new everyday. I didn't see the Tab that was spot welded to the cover that the relay is bolted to I thought it was bolted through the cover.
-
but you learn something new everyday.
True statement. I say that almost every day!
-
haha ok thanks you guys, whats a EFE relay do??
