Title: 250 or 292
Post by: 79chevykid on January 08, 2011, 07:30:22 pm: ok so i have a 79 chevy c10 and it has a strait 6 in it the vin on the cab says its a 250 but i dont know if its ever been changed, i had a guy telling me it was a 292 because the valve coves had the dip in them. where on the engine is the vin# and is there any good sites for decoding? thanks -kyle

can you comment on this? Is this for later years? My '68 C10 originally came with a 292!

Now it has a really expensive 292 with all of the expensive Clifford goodies!!!

Yes, in 1979 292 engines were not offered in C-10's only the heavier light duty trucks had them.
