Can someone tell me what the cannister looking thing in this picture is? It is on the drivers side and currently has one vent type hose going to it. It looks like there should be a couple more going to it. I am guessing it has something to do with emmisions.
-
Charcoal cannister. It vents the fuel tank and stores fuel vapors rather than releasing them into the atmosphere.
-
check your vacuum diagram to see what is missing. btw my canister imploded and sucked charcoal through the carb. now I don't have one.
-
So I am getting the impression that I don't actually need it. I will try to find a vacuum diagram and see what else goes to it before I make a decision to pull it.
-
This will help...

You don't really need it, unless you have emissions test, or you like the smell of gas fumes....
-
Yea It doesn't hurt to have it. Hook it up correctly and enjoy clean air.

Topp is correct, if your truck in your state has to have an emission test done, you will need, and without it sometimes you really can smell gas if you do a lot of stop and go driving..
