I have a 87 short step and Im " in there " .....   why should I consider a posi if this is a ranch truck,  but goes to the  cowboy bar in town by itself?

posi are more if you go mudding or go into the mud on the ranch most time you dont even need it just one of those things that helps out if you have a load on or something

I don't believe from your description of what you do with your truck that you need a posi.  In fact I would bet if you put one in you would hate it and take it right back out.

If you don't know how to react to posi, your truck will go sideways when you give it too much gas on a slippery surface, a regular slip diff with only 1 wheel spinning doesn't do this and can be easier to control.

I wouldn't posi you truck unless your ranch has some real rough terrain.
