Title: What is the difference between a GMC P -15 chassis and C-10
Post by: scooterdude on January 25, 2011, 06:21:16 am
I have a 79 GMC P-15 short wheel base Step Van, it has the larger brakes and 12 bolt w/3.73's. It was a 292 w/SM465. I was wondering what is the difference in the chassis between a C-10, so far everything has been the same. Now I want to lower it and I want to make sure the parts will fit. Also is there any shops in the Central Florida area to do a lowering job? I work in Iraq and don't have the time.

Its a  short wheel base, 110 in. I think its the same wheel base as an Astro.

Lowered vans are cool! You just gotta watch how big of a tire and wheel combo you want to run. The spindles and coils should be the same, and any rear drop equipment too.

This one is bagged on 18's with rubber bands for tires. The guy who owns the barbershop/ tattoo shop I go to has a lowered van on 15" supremes. I'll try and get a pic or two next time I'm there.

The framerails are farther apart on vans, so axles won't just bolt on and control arms and such would be shorter...  etc. etc.  That's the only difference I know for sure.

Vans are unibody and the rear as stated is narrower mounting.

Cool custom pic!
