The big bosses came to town this week and we were talking about some of the other markets that need personnel. The VP of the division said that the Alaska market needs good people. I took a road trip there two years ago and I have wanted to move there ever since. I may have the opportunity to take a big promotion and live my dream of moving to Alaska. I'm pretty excited about the idea and I think my '73 K2500 will be right at home up there. Is there anyone representing AK on the forum??

There are quite a few that are in Alaska, give it some time and they will respond.

Our trucks are great for Alaska, a old timer I know bought his 73 K20 right before he went up there, he lived up in anchorage for 10 years before he came back here, that truck is still rock solid. Its been sitting for the last 15 years though cause he hasn't had the gumption to put a clutch in it...

Come on up you and your truck will fit right in around here. I live on the Kenai Penninsula. If you plan on replacing any body or interior pieces on your truck you should buy them and bring them up with you. The shipping on truck freight up here will break the bank! Hope you have dual tanks, some of the road trips up north don't have gas stations near as close together as my one tank can hold. :o

Well I have dual tanks. So I'm good to go there. In another twist my Girlfriend just got accepted to the University of Alaska at Anchorage. I have a meeting with the managers in that area next weekend. I better start working on it faster.

Sounds like all the cards are falling into place for you to move to alaska, I am jealous.

Too cold for me, I don't even like the cold here in Va.

Sounds adventurous.

Should be a lot of fun. Meeting scheduled for Monday. I had another VP call me today to discuss the prospect. Not that I dislike CA but leaving just seems like the right thing to do.

I'm with you Jim its too cold for me up that way and I can't wait for spring/summer in va!

Think of the long days in the summer to work on truck projects. It will definitely be a huge change from Central California weather.

Where in central California are you ? And I know what you mean, just haven't found something else that I would enjoy doing..

I am in San Luis Obispo county over on the coast.
-
Oh so close to Pismo! Im jealous

Yes it is. I cover that area as part of my Territory for my Job. The next question is do you go wheel like all the time?? Funny enough most of the off-roaders around here do trails and rocks crawling. I guess no one appreciates what is in their own back yard :)
