Alright I'm looking for some input on what I should look for when looking at this truck, I still waiting on some fundage to become available otherwise I probably would already have bought it. I looks in the picture to be a pretty solid truck but that's also only one side of the truck. This will be my third 4x4 first older chevy 4x4 with out electronic lockers. Also want to make sure it's worth the asking price or should I try to wheel and deal with him. Thanks in advance and hopefully if everything checks out right and funds get here in time I'll own her. The ad is below.

It looks decent. As always, bid low. Most of the listed problems are pretty easy to fix. If the drivetrain is as good as it says, thats good. Ask for some interior pics.

79 has been a pretty popular year for these trucks. Good looking project for ya. Always wheel and deal! :D

Yea it looks good in the picture I want to go look at it but I'd rather wait an go when I have cash in hand. I find it helps when you have the money in hand to do the wheelin and dealin. I just don't know much about the 4x4s being as I've always been a 2wd owner.

The only other advice I would give is test out the 4 wheel drive system. Otherwise good price if everything checks out.

you couldn't touch a truck with that nice of a body in Wester New York for that kind of money. There was a 2wd truck with a little worse body than that for $2000 and I thought that was a great deal also it didnt have an engine. It was an 86 silverado with power windows and locks, (also a short bed). But I would go for it. The 4x4's are really nice.

hey slooby, you live in the tidewater area?
not a bad truck, check the cab mounts and such for rust, it seems he already admitted a floor pan needs replacing---bargaining ammo.
I hope he has some type of wheels/tires to get her sold (bargaining ammo)
if you like it, offer $1000 and maybe you'll meet him halfway then. A rebuilt 305 4k miles ago? 305 isn't the greatest for that truck and isn't stock. Have him show documentation it was rebuilt (bargaining ammo)

Every idiot with a short bed squarebody here in Arizona thinks its worth 3k, no matter the year or condition.
You can most likely find a bed floor and any bad panels in a boneyard, that and some tlc, I'd prolly hand him $1500 and drive it away. Even if you end up putting another grand into it you're still ahead of the game really.

No joke. Even trying to find parts for them is like burning a whole in my wallet. Cost me 60 bucks for a used power steering box, and it STILL leaks. Thats the cheapest I could find too.

I've never heard of a 4" lift from the factory.

Yep I'm in the tidewater area, unfortunitly the guy sold it before I could get my funds in but I wound up finding and 85 2wd silverado with a few minor issues/bugs to work out on it, it has a 350 in it with a turbo 350 trans, supposibly had a 400 sbc and 400 turbo trans in it before, which would explain why it was setup for a gooseneck trailer at on time, still has the trailerbrake setup with the adjuster box under the dash. Needs some interior work and a set of cab corners, i wont know about the floor pans untill i pull the carpet out. Guy was asking 1200 for it and I offered him 800 and took it home.

Good find and for a great price. ;D
