Title: Converting to a cs144 alternator from a 10si
Post by: jason d o on January 29, 2011, 11:25:14 pm
What all is needed to swap to a cs144 alternator? Ive read issues about mounting with the upper bracket. I believe mine is a 66 amp alt. or 63 amp. When i stop for a stop sign with everything on, my headlights dim. For modifying my upper mount i have no experience or tools to do so. Is there a specific mount i can buy already modified or a universal one that would work?

You could just stick with the 10Si Alternator..  They have them clear on up to 105 Amp.  If I remember correctly the Fuel Injected P/U from 87 to 89 had the higher Amp Alternator's to run all the extra electrical.  Check the Diesel applications as well.  In a nutshell I would find a 10Si with higher amperage.

The blazers also had them from 87-91...
The 89-91's also had ABS so they prolly are a better source.
