I bought this truck in May of 10' it stalled every time i stopped. After getting it home my mechanic did a tune up and was running fine. Last week it was -10 outside and I went out to start it and killed the battery trying, it was turning over but wouldnt start. I called a tow truck and after a jump it started right up. I replaced the battery to one with higher CCA and ran the truck for about a week. 3 days ago my boyfriend went outside started the truck, cleaned off all the snow and shut it down. I went out 3 hours later turned the key and it started but stalled right away. I had it towed to the mechanic and it started ran for 15 mins and stalled . He replaced the fuel pump, sending unit and harness. Still wont start. He said there is great spark. It turns over strong just wont run. There is no fuel at the injectors and is TBI.

I have been reading others posts on here and have come up with a list of things to check:
distributer cap loose?
fuel filter (not sure if he changed it)
accelerator pump?
Blowing out the fuel line
I see that gen 3 engines have fuses for the injectors (how do I know what generation??)
Idol air control
Coolant temp guage (someone posted that this will stop the ecm from letting the truck start)
and ECM fuses a & b (where are these located??)
MAP sensor??
EGR valve poss. stuck??
ECT Sensor???
Ignition Moduel??
He wants to replace the ECM next but after looking at it I noticed it has been replaced before, it doesnt smell burnt and looks clean. I dont have a ton of money to spend right now. Please help me to put a list together in an order for him to try first, or if you have seen this happen before let me know what has worked for you. Thanks again

If it is not stalling at the same time ( right after it starts or 5 min ), every time I would not suspect fuel pump. The question you need to find out is, right before it stalls is it loosing spark ? If not then move on to mechanical reasons, if it does then I would concentrate on electrical reasons. I know this is vague and it gets frustrating, but start with the simplest things first and then move on to the harder ones.

It is not starting at all right now, just turning over. It has spark and he said is was very good.

This is what comes to mind right now, did he check the timing when it was running, or did it idle really rough ? The next thing since you have tbi on it, did he check to make sure it was not messing up and was delivering the fuel properly ?

I know he didnt check the timing when it was running, but it has never sounded rough to me. I have been around trucks all my life and My x husband and I owned a garage........not saying that I am perfect but before it died it sounded good and strong. Not sure on the injectors, I know when the tow truck dropped it he tried to start it and left it running outside for about 15mins and it stalled. It sat in my driveway for 2 days and wouldnt start before I had it towed there.

Did he see if the injectors are getting signal or test them

My true belief is that when my boyfriend started it and let it run to clear the snow and ice off and then shut it down without touching the gas pedal something went wrong, and I almost dont believe that it ran for 15 mins from the mechanic, maybe i should delete that from my post, mostly because it was here in my driveway and i kept trying to start it for 2 days right up until the tow truck pulled in the driveway and nothing............He did say it ran but I am having a hard time believing it.

Put a little gas down the TBI throat and see if it starts.
If it does, it's probably the Ignition Control Module.

OK got the truck back, He had already tried a lot of the things on my list and from the posts. (I guess I should have had more faith in him) It wound up being a freyed wire going to the ecm. Thank you to all who read my post and all who helped!

It's good that the frayed wire wasn't grounding out and blowing the ecm1 fuse. Glad you're up n runnin again!
