Guys, my white wheels on my old C20 are looking rough, and I'm about to buy new tires. I'd like to remove the tires, take them down to metal, and then have my painter professionally paint them. I'd rather not go spray paint.
Can anyone tell me the factory code used for this color? Thanks a bunch!

Another option or two would be a newer style steel wheel, I have them on my 85 and they are pretty cheap or a full 16" wheel cover off a up to 1991 Suburban. Both add a fairly inexpensive route to update the totally stock look without a lot of bling. Very nice looking BTW

I saw all the option codes. Is there a way to pull the paint code out of an option code? Thanks for your help.

I sprayed mine with gloss white Krylon after a goos clean up and they came out great. I had to ditch them because they were 16.5's though. That's another story. Anyway, I really like the factory look with the white wheels and the hubcaps is what I'm trying to say.

Try your local gm dealer with the option codes and see if they can look them up.

Don't know the code, but the color is GM Frost white.

I just used Epoxy based Appliance Paint on my wheels and the paint lasted for at least 5 years and still looked like new. I say it lasted about 5 years because thats when I sold the truck. I got it from Home depot.
If you use regular body paint like you would with a paint code, count on repainting the wheels every 12 to 18 months to stop the rust.

Not to disagree, but steel is steel. If they are sandblasted and completely free of rust, there is nothing better than two component epoxy or self etching primer to resist rust. Putting a good quality paint over that just helps that much more. Appliance epoxy is tough stuff, but won't slow down rust on its own. Its the primer that does that. For most wheels, I would use rattle can products, although I admit they are garbage compared to two component automotive paint and primer. I just don't see an appliance paint lasting 5+ yrs. and automotive primer and paint lasting 1 to 1-1/2 yrs. If its free of rust they should last as long as anything else painted with automotive products which is usually 10+ yrs.

I used the spray version and didn't use a primer like the instructions said.

i've used appliance epoxy on a lot of different stuff. powder coat in a can. wish they made it in more colors to be honest. takes a few days to really be set up, and if you want to do a second coat try to wait a week or so to let the first coat get good and dry.
