looked at a 84 C 2500 Scottsdale yesterday .69,000 miles original owner truck. i noticed it had the pollution pump and tubes going to exhaust manifolds.is there any computer stuff or cat on a 84?i didn't have a light with me and wasn't wearing the right clothes to be laying on garage floor to check it out.i did kneel down for a quick look and looked like a 400 turbo with the light duty 2500 rear end.any opinions on this year truck. it looks like it just came off the show room floor.

An 84 should have catalytic converters on it. It had a carb on it right, I believe the computor came out on later years.

After 1969, Light duty vehicles has all kinds of emissions. A.I.R. pump, Egr valve, Charcoal cannister.
In 1975 Cats were added.
'84 I believe was the first year for a basic computer, which retarded the timing for knock, and thats about it.

What motor is in that truck? Sounds like a good find.
My 82 had the electronic spark control on it. I think they started that garbage when they changed the style for 81, maybe earlier even, but not sure. The full on computer stuff would be on an 87-up with the fuel injection.

Mine had all the smog stuff too. Also had a catalytic coverter....carb'd.
