Title: Dash Plate Repair
Post by: Joe-NC on February 11, 2011, 10:05:45 am
The dash plate in my truck (that strip of wide metal trim just above the glovebox) has some crease marks in it where someone tried pulling it off, bent it, then decided to put it back. A new one is about $70. Mine is brushed aluminum. Is there a way to make this perfectly flat again?

I'm thinking maybe something like an english wheel would do the trick. Anyone ever jerry-rigged a poor man's version of an english wheel?

Try harbor freight. They have cheap stuff.

The harbor frieght ones aren't too bad either, I used one to make a patch panel for a 61 Cadillac, turned out good since I had never used one before.

Check them out, you'll find a ton of uses for it along the way as well.

Santa Clara didn't have one before? LAME!!! When I lived in Sonoma they would come around on a little tour a couple times a year, that was the only easy way to get anything from them.

Nope, just opened two weeks ago. There wasn't one anywhere else besides Fremont.
