can i delete the saddle tanks and swap a suburban tank in from an 80s suburban?
i have an 84 k20 that has a 1 ton dually axle mounted in the rear. the body is off and it is stripped to the frame currently.
what size could i go with? biggest?
i'm running new fuel lines so that isn't a big concern
i can fabricate some brackets too. just curious if anyone else has swapped the bigger suburban fuel tanks.
i've read captkaos build on a k5 tank.
my reason is i have a flat bed that will go on the truck and a side toolbox along with a stack on the other side.
thanks

Do a search for blazer gas tank swap on here, capt has done one with pics.

Thanks nucknoel89, I was late this morning and didn't have time to look it up.

The 26 or the 31 gallon tanks will fit the trucks, the 40 gallon will not.

why will it not? i've up for a little modification. i would assume a 3/4 suburban frame with a 40 gal tank would be very similar to a 3/4 ton truck frame.

Actually, after some looking, I think the 40 would fit in a lwb application. My bad, its the swb app that it won't work in.

allright i have a long bed. i should have mentioned that to begin with. ;D

yes, 40 won't fit a SWB, it is tight on a LWB.

Capt, any pics of how you setup the filler neck?
I'm looking into this too... 10mpg wouldn't be too bad if I could go more then 160 miles between fillups....
Thanks

This is one way, prolly the slickest way I've seen to do it. I'm gonna try this when I cut my truck down.

Nice find, that looks good, but I don't think I can pull off something that slick. I'm thinking about a flip down license plate, with the filler behind it.

with the Blazer tank you can't mount it behind the license plate, its too low (below the tank)
Mine is going to be behind the taillight...
