85 K20 208 has small drip , how hard is it to service?
-
Small drip from where ? ???. Could be something simple like a loose plug or something more like a seal that is going out. With the tools, patience, and a good mechanical skills, rebuilding is not that hard.

the leak starts above where the 2 bolts hold the support bracket. can this back half be removed and new gasket installed in truck?looks like it has a sloppy job of black atv around it.
-
There is no gasket where the two halves mate together, only RTV. I've had my 208 apart on the bench, and I'd never attempt to split the case while it's under the truck. Not unless I could come up with a way to stand the truck on it's nose :) Mine was a bit of a challenge to get everything lined back up properly while it was on the bench. I could see a huge amount of cussing going on if I attempted to split it, and put it back together, while it was installed. I'm sure somewhere, someone has successfully done it. But I'll never attempt it.

ok thanks.

Agreed, if you put the case front down on a bench all the guts will stay in the front when you split the case. Don't try it in the truck.
