Title: Getting back into the swing of things!
Post by: deluxe77 on February 22, 2011, 08:32:14 am
It's been a long time since I've posted anything on here!  But I'm back with a couple new projects!  I had to retire the old 77 k10,  it was to far gone for me to bring back!  So I bought an 86 silverado and transplanted the 307 motor!  My original plan was to leave it stock but thanks to a very convincing friend I came across a drop kit that was in my price range!  So now it sits low, and will be Lowe in the back when I get my c notch for the back!

During the process of working on the 86 I also acquired my second truck!  It is a 78 gmc Sierra that belonged to my stepdad!  He wanted to get rid of it but wanted to keep it in the family so I ended up with it!  My plans for it are to restore it closer to stock and when my daughter is old enough it will become her first vehicle!  I did rob the wheels off of it and put on the 86!  I have to finish installing the motor that my stepdad never got around too,  but it should be road worthy in just a weekends worth of work!

The motor in the bed is a 350 that came with the truck!  I have a friend that is going to help me build a 383 stroked for the silverado out of it!

Sweet! I love double builds! I think the wheels from the 78 look better on the 86. Welcome back!

The only problem with the wheel swap is that they rub when I turn!  I am going after work today to try a slightly thinner tire for the front!

Update!  I got the 78 running tonight!  Sounds great but still have a few little minor tweaks before it's road worthy!  For some reason the throttle is sticking so it idles higher than it should until I unstick it!   I pulled it out on The street for a quick test drive and the drivers side breaks are locking up!  Buy for sitting parked for the last seven years I kind of expected things like this!  Got to dark for pictures will try again tomorrow!
