Post by: Gilby959798 on February 24, 2011, 08:56:05 pm
ok I can tell that the cab on my truck has had some body work and there is a vin tag on the dash but there isnt one on the door jam... I didnt grab the title to check the vins but is there any way to get a tag to put on the door jam?

the vin location depends on what year the truck is. earlier models, around 73-75 or so, had it on the door jam and 76+ it was on the dash.

beastie, I think your off on the years...up to '78 is in the jamb originally & '79 & up is in the windshield. Lorne

Hauling it is right, 79 they started putting on dash, so if you want one on the door, it should be a sticker and not metal.  Any vehicle inspection might have a problem with both metal ones.

The one in the door is a riveted plate not a sticker.
