Title: how much lift for k30
Post by: 84crew on February 24, 2011, 09:58:24 pm
Hi all. Im in need of some advice. I have an 84 1 ton crew cab 4x4. I would like to put some 35 inch tires on it and would like to know how much lift I will need. I have lifted half  tons, I know 4 inches will give enough room for 33s on a half ton but 1 tons sit a little higher in stock form. Will 31/2 to 4 inches be enough or do I need more? Thanks in advance for the help.

It also depends on how wide the tires will be and the backspacing of the wheels.

Are you planning on going off road or just dirt road type driving ?

Nothing to serious off road, I own a cj5 for that, just some height for when I need it. I prefer to run narrower tires without too much offset on the wheels.

do u plan on putting a heavy load on the truck, you know a trail. or any thing it the bed.  thats why one ton trucks have a higher stance, for the extra load capacity. i would go with a 6" lift.

Um.....the higher stance is not for the extra load capacity. Its because the 1 ton springs make the truck taller. You make it sound like the truck is higher to compensate for the sag.

the springs make taller because they are made to handle more load thats why they are called 1 ton not half ton. so if you plan on using it like it is made for then go for a 6" lift.

Are there load ratings for lift kit springs? I always assumed lift springs were lighter duty than 3/4 ton and 1 ton springs.

when u buy a name brand they have spring for 3/4 and 1 ton truck and HD truck you have to tell them what you have. they will cost more but are worth it.
