Title: Random Question

The trans went out on the 92 Sedan Deville that my dad left me. How much of a bear is this gonna be to swap? I've never done a fwd trans before.

Oh yeah, and I gotta get the thing down here, its still in NorCal.

I helped my buddy swap engines in his bonneville he picked up and resold. Taking the engine out wasnt too difficult, and once it was out the tranny didnt look too hard to get to, but I believe you can pull the tranny from under the engine as well. It only took about 3 days to.unhook everything and remove the engine.

I replaced a clutch in my pontiac a few years back. It wasn't too bad but definatley a full day of work for me. You'll have to pull axles instead of drive shafts. Nothing was tricky; just nuts and bolts. I had a lift so that definatley helped a lot.  8)

Slammed79, I got my wife a 95 Seville SLS a few years ago that had tranny issues. I'm not sure how similar that is to yours but anyway it was aquired because of the cost to repair it. I found a tranny for $500 and then realized that without a lift I couldn't change it(I didn't pick up the tranny just located and priced one). I decided to have someone rebuild it but none of the local shops wanted to touch it. I looked into it further and was able to repair it in the car. The shift solenoid was physically broken. I fixed it for less than $100 in about 2-3 hrs.
One shop told me $1800-$2000 if I removed the tranny and brought it to them!
