Title: Converting electric doors to manual
Post by: djvsantana on March 02, 2011, 10:30:46 am
Ok guys im new on this site and am looking for some help. I just recently bought a 1980 silverado short bed that needs a bit of work. One of the first things I want to do is replace the doors. It has manual doors on it at the moment and I want to leave them manual, but my father has some electric doors at his shop that are already shaved and in great condition that I could use. Like I said they are electric but I want to change them to manual. What do i need to do to make this happen? Any help or info would really be appreciated.

Electric locks require nothing extra.  Use manual door panels and remove the actuator, if you want manual.  From power windows to manual requires the manual window regulator, crank handle+clip, and manual window door panels.  I bought manual doors and converted them to electric and it was a piece of cake, just read up on the regulator removal as it can be dangerous.

So what if i decided to leave the shaved doors electric. What kind of wiring would I have to do then since I have manual doors now?

Just remove all the guts from each and swap them.  You need the harness from the power to make it work.

The wiring diagram section.  The harness is seperate, so you can get it from a donor.
