should i do THIS right after the header:
or run a length of exhaust pipe to a muffler like THIS:
i know i know these arent the best brands but its what im looking at.
either way its going to be dual straights that bend out and dump down right in front of the rear wheel.

Mostly depends on how loud you want it. The closer to the headers, the louder they tend to be. With a dump right in front of the rear wheels, I'd hang the turbo muffler just after the trans xmember, it'll sound good without being overpowering. Just my .02

thats what i was leaning toward! cool.

I found that the more tail pipe you have after a glasspack the more rap you get out out of it when you let off the throttle. I'm not a fan of that. I would go with the welded muffler.

I got that bottom thrush muffler on my truck.

Does it sound alright? With headers or no?
-
I've used the thrush muffler on a couple of vehicles and liked them, they seem to be pretty good quality.

flowmaster knock-offs, if ya gotta have that sound, and want to pay half price.

I got headers on my truck. It's a 4.3v6 though. Just have 3 inch single exhaust running back no cats or any of that. It sounds good though. No drone or anything nasty like that.

This is the exact same thing I'm doing. I'm installing the headers myself next Saturday so she should be in the shop by Monday. I'm going true dual straight pipe from the headers (no cats) with the Thrush Turbo's at the end with a turn down before the rear axle. If you wait about 2 weeks, I'll post up a video for you to hear to better make yer decision.

Mufflers create back pressure, you should read this link Beastie posted. Here is a interesting link... http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/exhaust_system_installation/index.html

ive got everything ready to go... was gonna do it this weekend but the muffler shop i buy pipe from was closed for some reason. i needed them to sell me a few feet of 2.5" and do some bends for me.

What are everyone's thoughts on this:
The further back the mufflers are the more power you'll get.
-
My thoughts are it’s not about length but about back pressure. You need it you can have headers with straight pipe it will run about the same as open headers you need some bends or pressure to get the tq you want. iv always thought of it like this if you have open headers then you will gain high end hp but if you have back pressure you will get the low end tq. Now it’s balancing those two numbers that’s the problem

I have the same purple hornies except with the turndown right after and with full length headers. Let me tell you, it's almost annoying loud. I'd compare it to having open headers almost. I did it for a cheap exhaust set up but gonna use them on something else and go for a more balanced set up and a civilized tone. I didn't even use my radio since it was just too much noise going on and I'm def in one ear from IED's!!!

i have a Thrush Glass pack just above my rear axle and it sounds pretty dang good...
