One thing the GM engineers overlooked in our trucks are cup holders! I saw some really cool ones a while back that plugged into the ash tray after you took the insert out. Haven't been able to find then since. ??? Who has a good solution to share? It's a safety thing ya know... have to have coffee in the morning. ::)

I have the plug-n-chug from Cupholders Plus http://www.cupholdersplus.com/gm-chevy-truck-center-console-cup-holder/GMTR7387PC.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=base&utm_campaign=products (http://www.cupholdersplus.com/gm-chevy-truck-center-console-cup-holder/GMTR7387PC.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=base&utm_campaign=products)
Don't smoke so thought I might as well utilize the space. Very satisfied with the function and quality of it. Unrestrictive for the middle passenger and can be easily stowed behind the seat if the need arises.

And if you do smoke, you could always use the ash tray that fits into one of the holders. Auto Zone has them.

I've seen "billet" cup holders that mount in or under your dash, and you can slide them in when they're not in use. They're around $100. That's more than I, personally, can afford to pay for something to hold my drink. My solution to the no cup holder problem has been to buy beverages in plastic bottles with screw-on lids, and toss it next to me on the seat.

Yes those billet ones are nice. You can get plastic ones though very similar out of certain stock vehicles for 15-25$ on ebay usually. I smoke like a chimney so I need my ash tray.

That makes two of us!

does it fit 20 oz bottles in that ashtray cup holder?

No on the 20 oz bottle but a 16 oz fits fine. Also 2 medium Sonic cups will fit or any of the drive thru drinks that have the tapered bottoms on the cups. Tried the "cup between the legs" way and would always end up punching the straw thru the cup. Sitting it on the seat, always got knocked over. For us, we would rather have our drinks in a cup with ice so this holder was the quickest and simplest solution.

Roll of duct tape sitting on the seat works perfect

I use the high density plastic cup holders you see on slot machines. usually find em for about 8.50 ea plus a gouged shipping charge from casino/vending machine suppliers. happ supply i think was the last one i bought from..they'll fit ANY fast food fountain drink, most large coffee mugs, 20 oz bottles, 1 liter bottles (sorta), and can be screwed onto the dash in the "blank" space between the middle AC vent and the gauge ridge on the 81+ trucks. If i think about it, i'll take a pic of the one i'm using now on Wednesday when I charge my AC.
