OK I have the chains for the tail gate of my stepside but they have no plastic left on them. My truck is going into the paint shop this week and i need to find something to put over the chains to stop them from chipping the paint. I know the first thing everybody is going to say is they sell a plastic cover for that. Well I would like to find something local if possible but i cant find anything. do you guys have any ideas?

Bicycle inner tube

that was a quick response. I am assuming you must have done that before.

+1 on inner tube. for 27inch wheels though, 700c wont fit i dont think...too narrow.

Yep, several times... You need the skinny ones from the old school type 10 speed bikes, if you lived by me I'd give you one.

wouldn't those be too tight a fit? Maybe I've got the wrong size chain in mind.

Remove them before you paint the truck, then look at a local hardware store for the tubing on a roll and get some clear plastic. I got mine from a vendor and they are clear n look great..
thanks
