The tranny went out of my 93 silverado(4l60e) and the only trannys that will work are 93/94 4l60e's. The add for this tranny says its out of a 93 g-20 van.Can anyone tell from this pic if its a 700r4 or 4l60e?

That doesn't look like my 700r4. Based on the year and all of the extra wires and gadgets I would guess it's a 4l60e.
-
I second that statement. Too many electrical gizmos.

If you have your transmission dropped, you could compare them.

4L60E
Notice the green harness connector on the passenger side:

Thanks everyone. The seller is calling it a 700r4. He keeps dropping the price, started at $400 now its at $100. My truck has 300,000 miles on it and the only problem ive ever had with it is the tranny.

Eventhorizon: is that tailhousing on upside down? or are there different tailhousings with speedo on opposite sides?

Nope, it's on correctly. 93-95 have the VSS on the driver side. 96-up have it on the passenger side....I think.

That is a fixture to mount the trans to a work bench for a rebuild.
I should clarify I did not take that pic.
Here is the page I copied it from: http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/ccrp_0711_4l60e_to_4l65e_gm_transmission_conversion/photo_01.html
