Title: Custom Wood Bed
Post by: Doms86Shortbed on March 23, 2011, 05:15:15 pm
I LOVE the wood bed's in the step-sides they really add a fantastic touch to the truck. I have an 86' fleetside shortbed. I'm just wondering if there anyway to modify the metal strips inbetween the wood so it will fit a fleetside. I know in my yearone catalog they sell sets for the older fleetside trucks. Anybody do any customizing to those to make them fit the newer (73-89) beds? it's a shot but all i can get is a no, right? haha

                         thanks!

If you want to put a wood floor in a fleetside bed it can be done. http://bedwoodandparts.com/i-2895053-1973-80-chevrolet-model-c-k-lwb-fleetside-pickup.html

Just a word of advice, don't use pine unless you aren't planning on keeping it very long or unless it's just a beater. It will warp, ooze sap, and discolor in about 2-3 years.
